13 June 2008

By Rhona Parry

Just a reminder that the closing date for responding to Phase 1 of the PSB Review is Thursday 19th June. If you want to have your say you can either complete the online response form, email your comments to PSBReview@ofcom.org.uk, or post your response to Ofcom. Additionally you can leave informal comments about particular issues in the interactive executive summary, or of course here on the blog.

We've already received quite a few responses, the non-confidential ones of which are published on Ofcom's website if you want to have a read. After the closing date, we'll read all responses and condense the key arguments and issues so that we can publish a summary document later in the summer. But more critically, the issues raised in the responses are a crucial input to our ongoing analysis and thinking as we move towards the next phase of the review. So please do respond before next Thursday if you can.

What's this blog for?

This blog is a trial, aimed at engaging a broader range of people in the debate about the future of Public Service Broadcasting in the UK.

Ofcom is required by Parliament to review and recommend ways to strengthen and maintain public service broadcasting at least every five years.

In September 2007, Ofcom commenced its second review of public service broadcasting. On 25 September 2008, we published the second phase of that analysis, which will be open for consultation until 4 December. This follows the first consultation which was published in April 2008.

If you're short of time, you can read an online version of the executive summary of Phase 2.
